Hello, Mint HQ coming to you on Wednesday the 27th of May, 2020. Today we want to talk swimming pool compliance. In December 2019, a legislation was introduced that all swimming pools will be required to undergo a compulsory compliance check every four years.
To kick the whole process off, every pool owner in Victoria needs to have their pool registered with their local council by the 1st of June 2020. That is less than a week away. So if you have a swimming pool and you haven’t contacted your council to register it, please do so, please make this a priority. Check it on the website or pick up the phone and give them a call and find out exactly what it is that they need you to do. It’s really important. Now, the process for the pool checks has been split into three distinct dates based on installation of the pool. So 1994 and prior, 1994 to 2010, and then 2010 onwards. So the compulsory checks will be staggered based on the date of installation. So as long as you’re registered, if your pool was actually installed in 2012, you won’t have to take action for quite some time. You do just need to be on the registration list to receive all of the appropriate communication. As with any new process, there may be some teething problems so we certainly wish you well in navigating the process and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us, always happy to help. Take care.
